About security

Several of the pages in the Dynamic Link Config folder could pose security risks if they were present on your production site, and uploaded to the public server along with your Web site pages. There are several approaches you can take to prevent problems:

  • Do not upload any pages from the Config folder to a Web site that can be accessed by anonymous users.
  • Adobe GoLive makes use of IP authorization to prevent unauthorized individuals from tampering with your files. The module uses a file called friends.asp in the Include folder inside the Config folder that designates trusted IPs. Open this file in a text editor to see instructions on adding friendly IP addresses or disabling this security feature.
  • Set a password for your Config folder on the server side using Basic Authentication.
  • Disable HTTP read permissions for the Config/databases folder. This prevents anyone from downloading your databases.
